Why it’s important

Three academy trusts are proposing to merge.

Between them, they govern dozens of local schools, both Church of England and non-faith.

A merger isn’t simply an administrative change. It means creating a new governance structure for the organisation ultimately responsible for all of those schools.

And ultimately the point is this. LP currently houses most of the secular schools in Guildford. In order for the CoE schools to be accomodated within LP, some significant changes will need to be made to the current LP Articles of Association.

This will probably include specifics on:

…Who will Members be? How will they be appointed?
…Who will appoint the Trustees?
…What role will the Diocese have in all this?
…And, ultimately, what will this mean for schools with no religious designation?
