Who am I and why do I care?
Hi! My name is Chris Sciberras.
I’m a mum of two girls. I’ve lived in Merrow for many years. Some of you may have heard of me via another website I built recently, about the Merrow Schools Amalgamation.
I also run a local fitness business, I’m an athletics coach, so you may have come across me in one of these activities.
I have previously been a governor at Merrow Schools Federation and served as Vice Chair. So I know a bit about school governance.
Professionally, I also work in governance, helping sports organisations improve governance, decision-making and accountability. Much of my professional life involves examining governance structures, reading documents, identifying potential conflicts of interest and supporting evidence-based decision making. MY children call be a governance neek – that’s somewhere between a nerd and a geek. And it’s a term I’ve grown to like!
Crucially, I’m a secularist. I strongly believe that the religion should have no authority with our public instituions, whether schools, hospitals, house of Lords.
The point of this website is to shine a light into how a handful of people are making decisions that will affect the governance structures of many of the schools in Guildford and Surrey. And to ask:
